Yumiko joined GJE in 2008 upon completion of her PhD at University College London, which concentrated on studies towards novel artificial enzymes. Prior to this, she obtained a Masters degree in Chemistry at Imperial College London, during which she carried out a research project, focusing on cuprates and organocopper species for use in asymmetric 1,4-conjugate addition reactions to α, β - unsaturated carbonyl compounds.
She deals with a variety of subject areas including pharmaceuticals, drug delivery, medical devices, polymer science and technology, printing ink compositions and gene therapy. She is a part-qualified British patent attorney and is working towards full British and European qualification. She assists Arnie Clarke.
