Steven is a part qualified UK patent attorney specialising in the pharmaceutical sector. After gaining a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Nottingham, Steven worked in pharmaceutical research for 4 years before joining the patent profession in 2008. Steven worked initially for a national firm of patent attorneys where he gained experience in drafting and prosecuting European patent applications in various fields including mechanical devices, ceramics, and bulk chemicals. He then joined a niche firm specialising in the pharmaceutical sector where he handled drafting and worldwide prosecution of patent portfolios covering small molecules and peptides.

Steven joined GJE in 2011 where he continues to handle drafting, and worldwide prosecution of patent portfolios, with extensive experience in Europe, the US and Japan. He also offers pragmatic advice on freedom to operate issues and cost-effective patent portfolio management.

In his spare time, when not studying for patent exams, Steven likes to play squash, travel, and spend time with his young family.
