Senior Associate

Fiona joined GJE in 2005, after obtaining a masters degree in Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge. She specialised in chemistry, physiology and pharmacology. Fiona qualified as a British Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney in 2010.

The majority of Fiona's work involves working with British clients, and she therefore has extensive experience in drafting new applications. She has followed many of those applications through to grant in the UK, Europe and in a number of foreign jurisdictions. Fiona has worked with several start-up companies and understands the importance of tailoring IP needs to the business plan, to ultimately add value and secure investment.

Fiona handles a wide variety of patent work in the pharmaceutical, chemical and biotechnology fields. She has drafted and prosecuted applications relating to gene therapy, drug re-profiling, NCEs, polymer chemistry, fuel cells, catalysis and fluorocarbon chemistry. She has also been involved in EPO opposition and appeal proceedings, and in the preparation of infringement and validity opinions.

In her spare time, Fiona likes to jump out of planes and regularly competes in national skydiving events.
