Alasdair joined GJE in 1994 after obtaining a Masters degree in Law from University College, London. Prior to that Alasdair graduated from Kingston University with an Honours degree in Law following which he completed the Law Society Finals course at the College of Law in York. He qualified as a Trade Mark Attorney in 1997 and is recognised as a professional representative before OHIM (the Community Trade Mark Office). He was admitted as a solicitor in 2000 and entered the Partnership in 2002.
Alasdair practices exclusively in the field of trade marks covering all aspects of selecting, registering and protecting trade marks worldwide, including oppositions and proceedings for invalidity and infringement. His experience also extends to anti-counterfeiting matters. Alasdair represents a wide range of clients including World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc, De La Rue International, Biocompatibles (UK) Limited, Sinclair Pharmaceuticals Plc and Cooper Industries, Inc as well as a large number of start-up companies.
Alasdair was among the first ten attorneys in the UK to attend and complete the Institute of Trade Marks Attorneys’ Advanced Litigation Course. He has been involved in one of the leading English cases on non-use revocation, namely Laboratoires Goemar SA v La Mer Technology Inc.
